There seems to be some unwritten rule that says once we dream of something — especially if we hold onto it, tell people about it, and actually try to pursue it — we’re under blood contract to follow it through to the very end and/or be with it for all eternity.

We have it in our heads that there is no turning back and no re-negotiating.

I see it all the time in the brilliant creators I coach. They repeatedly get stuck at the end of their creation cycle (more on that in a sec). Or even before the end…

“Deb, I’m going to follow the magic.”

Her words struck me. HARD. We were catching up with each other over zoom — about where we had been and what was coming next for each of us. We were both “raised up” in business to have a plan with carefully crafted steps and launch timers. And yet here Maria was, adventurous as always, choosing to listen to her spirit and magic over any kind of industry “best practice.” To follow the magic. Let it guide her. No more forcing or trying to control what happened next. She was going to be…

When you first walk into our house, there’s this beautifully framed credo right inside the door. A number of years ago, my husband, Joe, and I were working on cultural credos for our businesses, trying to define what kind of atmosphere we wanted to create for ourselves and our clients. In that process, it occurred to us we should do one for our home. Shouldn’t we take care to create the very space we were living in every single day?

As a seer, empath, and deep believer in magic, my world revolves around empowering people to believe in their own magic so strongly the world can’t help but believe in it, too.

This means I spend a ridiculous amount of time promoting confidence and courage among — other things. ’Cause you can’t wield your magic with authority and power without those two Cs. (Think Neville Longbottom…he didn’t get real wizard-y until he gained the confidence and courage to stand up for himself and his friends.)

Some of my Sacred Rebels (members of my tribe) think I make courage and confidence…

We’ve made it through the end of December.

Let’s celebrate!

(No, really. C-E-L-E-B-R-A-T-E. Pop open the bubbly. We made it!)

2020 has run its course and we have embarked on a new one.

Last year has shown us all that there are things in life that happen to us that are beyond our control. Things like global pandemics, or armed robberies, or car crashes… Some of us already knew this. Others learned it for the very first time.

It’s easy to feel that last year took from us — and it’s not that it didn’t. But, if we get stuck…

I was eight when I saw the Northern Lights spread across the night sky above my house on Princeton Street — speechless as the colors danced above our Illinois trees.

What was this magic?!

“Aurora Borealis.” I think one of my parents said, quickly naming and explaining them, peeling away a little layer of their mystery. I don’t remember much else from that night. …
